Rohde & Schwarz Unveils High-Flexibility EMI Test Receivers at EMV 2025

Rohde & Schwarz has announced the launch of its latest high-flexibility EMI test receivers , the R&S EPL1001 (up to 1 GHz) and R&S EPL1007 (up to 7.125 GHz), at EMV 2025 in Stuttgart. These cutting-edge devices are designed to provide engineers with a flexible, cost-effective, and future-proof solution for electromagnetic interference (EMI) measurements, ensuring compliance with the latest standards while supporting optimized investments through expandable features.

A Scalable Solution for EMC Measurement Needs

The new R&S EPL1001 and R&S EPL1007 are engineered to meet a broad spectrum of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) measurement requirements, emphasizing flexibility, precision, and cost-effectiveness 6. Engineers can start with a basic model tailored to their current needs and budget, then seamlessly upgrade with advanced functionalities as requirements evolve. This modular design ensures that investments remain secure and adaptable over time.

Key features of the basic versions include:

  • EMI bandwidth compliance (CISPR 16-1-1, DO-160, and MIL-STD-461).
  • Detectors compliant with CISPR 16-1-1 standards.
  • RF input protection and automatic adaptable attenuation in 1 dB steps for handling strong signals effectively.

Optional upgrades, such as preselection and preamplifiers, enhance the measurement of broadband signals, short pulses, and small signals. Adding the EPL1-B1611 option transforms these receivers into fully CISPR 16-1-1-compliant EMI test systems, enabling certification of equipment under test.

Advanced Features for Enhanced Efficiency

The Time Domain Scan (TDS) feature allows users to capture entire CISPR bands A or B in a single shot, with measurements above CISPR band B conducted in 20 MHz steps using associated resolution bandwidths. This capability significantly reduces testing time while improving the detection of intermittent emissions.

Additional tools for in-depth analysis include:

  • Spectrogram for visualizing signal behavior over time.
  • Zero span for detailed frequency-domain analysis.
  • Bar graph display for quick insights into signal levels.

Optional upgrades such as real-time spectrogram, intermediate frequency (IF) analysis, and 4-channel click rate analysis further extend the functionality of these devices.

Versatility Beyond EMI Testing

The R&S EPL1001 and R&S EPL1007 are not limited to EMI measurements. They also feature an integrated spectrum analyzer and an optional signal generator with tracking generator functionality, reducing the need for additional equipment. Battery and DC power operation enable testing in diverse environments without reliance on a fixed power source, making them ideal for field applications.

Tailored for EMC and R&D Engineers

These test receivers cater to both EMC test engineers and R&D engineers :

  • EMC test engineers benefit from precise, fast, and standard-compliant measurements to ensure devices meet regulatory requirements.
  • R&D engineers gain access to detailed signal analyses, user-friendly interfaces, and continuous emission monitoring capabilities essential for troubleshooting during development.

Expanding the EPL EMI Test Receiver Family

The R&S EPL1001 and R&S EPL1007 expand Rohde & Schwarz’s EPL EMI test receiver family , which began with the R&S EPL1000 launched in 2023. The new models will be available for order starting from Q2 2025 and will be showcased at EMV 2025 in Stuttgart from March 25 to 27 at booth 615.
