u-blox, a leading global provider of positioning and wireless communication technologies, has introduced its new X20 all-band high-precision GNSS platform. Building on the success of its popular F9 platform, the X20 delivers enhanced accuracy, performance, and security, setting a new standard for high-precision GNSS solutions. Designed for industries like industrial automation, automotive, and applications requiring centimeter-level positioning in challenging environments, the platform also serves time synchronization needs for critical infrastructure systems.
Key Features of the u-blox X20 Platform
The X20 is an all-band platform (L1/L2/L5/L6) with an integrated L-band receiver, supporting all available GNSS satellite signals. This configuration ensures the highest precision positioning, even in environments with weak signals. By incorporating the L5 and L6 bands, the platform benefits from improved signal properties, making it more robust and accurate, especially for navigation and correction services.
Versatility and Scalability for a Range of Applications
One of the X20’s standout features is its built-in support for all correction services. The platform supports RTK (real-time kinematic), Network RTK, PPP-RTK, and PPP (precise point positioning), giving users the flexibility to choose the best solution for their specific needs, balancing cost and precision. This versatility makes it ideal for a range of applications, including port logistics, machine control in construction, UAVs, and ground robotics like lawnmowers.
Future-Proof Design with Software Upgradability
The u-blox X20 is software upgradeable, ensuring that it remains adaptable to future technological developments and evolving standards. This future-proof design allows users to upgrade the system as needed, extending the platform’s lifespan and usability.
Enhanced Security Features
The platform was developed with an emphasis on security and integrity. It includes end-to-end security functions such as secure boot, firmware updates, message authentication, and encryption with a secure root of trust (RoT). It also features advanced jamming and spoofing detection along with Galileo OSNMA authentication, ensuring that positioning data remains accurate and secure.
u-blox CEO on the X20 Platform
u-blox CEO Stephan Zizala commented, “X20 combines the unique capabilities of u-blox GNSS chips, software, modules, and correction services to deliver unmatched accuracy, performance, and security. Our X20 platform will make centimeter-level GNSS technology accessible to global mass markets. With a future PPP variant of PointPerfect, our customers will benefit from seamless correction data across all continents.”
The X20 platform will be presented at INTERGEO 2024 in Stuttgart, Germany, from September 24-26 (Hall 1, Booth B1.039).
