Aerotech Expands Automation XA4 PWM Servo Drive Series with New Configurations

Aerotech, a global leader in precision motion control and automation, has announced the expansion of its Automation1 XA4 PWM servo drive series. The XA4 series, designed to deliver high-performance at a competitive price point, now includes single-, dual-, and quad-axis configurations. These compact, economical drives offer an exceptional performance-to-price ratio while helping reduce overall system costs for machine builders.

Daniel Hong, Controls Product Manager at Aerotech, highlighted the benefits of the expanded series: “The new XA4 servo drive options make it easier for more machine builders to harness the power of precision. These compact and cost-effective drives save valuable panel space while offering high-value, high-performance solutions.”

Key Features of the XA4 Series Expansion:

  1. Improved In-Position Jitter:
The XA4 servo drives feature a 10 kHz servo loop update rate, ensuring improved in-position jitter and enhanced overall system performance.
  2. Space-Saving Design:
Available in AC and DC versions, the XA4 series is engineered to save space in control panels. The XA4-AC version reduces panel space by up to 72% compared to four XC4 panel mount drives, while the XA4-DC version saves up to 27% compared to four XC2 panel mount drives.
  3. Versatile Configuration Options:
The expanded XA4 series includes several new options to accommodate diverse needs, such as a 4-axis configuration, direct current power supply, standard I/O expansion, and high-density I/O expansion.
  4. Seamless Integration and Compatibility:
The XA4 servo drives are compatible with a wide range of applications, including ball screws, BM, BMS, and third-party motors. They support up to 340 VDC and 10/20 A peak current, providing flexibility and ease of integration.
  5. I/O Expansion Board Options:
Two new I/O expansion board options offer up to 32 digital inputs/outputs, 5V/GND pins, an auxiliary encoder, and sync ports, allowing for greater customization and control.
