CETEX, the newly launched Consumer Electronics Test & Development Forum and Expo, invites test and development engineers to the RAI Amsterdam from October 9 to 10, 2024. Rohde & Schwarz will present its state-of-the-art test and measurement (T&M) solutions designed to address emerging challenges in consumer electronics development. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with Rohde & Schwarz experts and explore technologies aimed at enhancing EMC compliance, speeding up digital protocol debugging, and improving product energy efficiency.
Comprehensive Testing for Consumer Electronics
Consumer electronics comprise numerous components that must be tested individually during the development phase, certification, or when compiling product datasheets. Rohde & Schwarz offers solutions that span a wide range of testing needs, including electromagnetic compatibility (EMC/EMI), energy efficiency (such as switch mode analysis), connectivity (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, HDMI, USB4), and digital bus testing. At CETEX, visitors can get hands-on experience with select Rohde & Schwarz T&M instruments tailored for engineers in the consumer electronics field.
Next-Generation Oscilloscopes
Rohde & Schwarz will showcase its MXO 5 and MXO 5C series oscilloscopes at CETEX. These next-generation devices offer superior time and frequency measurements for consumer electronics testing. The MXO 5 series, available in four- or eight-channel models, and the MXO 5C, optimized for rackmount setups without a display, are powered by the proprietary MXO-EP ASICs. These oscilloscopes boast the industry’s fastest acquisition rate at 4.5 million waveforms per second, 12-bit ADC/18-bit HD resolution, a deep memory capture of 500 million points per channel, and advanced digital triggering, making them ideal for debugging power and signal integrity issues and handling logic and bus protocol debugging tasks with ease.
Power Conversion and Consumption Measurements
Rohde & Schwarz will demonstrate its capabilities in power conversion and consumption measurement at CETEX. The MXO 5 oscilloscope’s eight channels allow engineers to directly observe critical details when characterizing gate driver signals, which is particularly useful in inverter design. Additionally, the R&S NGU201 source measure unit will be displayed, highlighting its capabilities in testing the power consumption of battery-operated devices such as IoT equipment with very low sleep currents. This unit simulates real-world battery behavior, making it indispensable for design engineers.
EMC Pre-Compliance and In-House Testing
Given that all electronic devices are prone to electromagnetic interference (EMI), Rohde & Schwarz offers solutions for integrating EMC debugging and testing early in the design process. Attendees can learn how to use the R&S RTO6 oscilloscope for EMI debugging and the R&S EPL1000 EMI test receiver for in-house EMC pre-compliance testing, ensuring higher chances of passing formal EMC compliance tests.
Component Testing
Rohde & Schwarz will also showcase its R&S LCX LCR meters, which feature customized impedance measurement functions suited for testing passive components up to 10 MHz. Using the R&S LCX sweep software tool, users can perform sweep measurements and display multiple charts. Additionally, the MFIA impedance analyzer from Zurich Instruments AG (a Rohde & Schwarz subsidiary) will be on display. The MFIA is ideal for analyzing both low and high impedance components and provides a rapid impedance measurement mode for tracking changes in devices under test.
Wireless Connectivity and Bluetooth Testing
With Bluetooth being a core technology in consumer electronics, Rohde & Schwarz will showcase the R&S CMW270 wireless connectivity tester at CETEX 2024. This tester offers comprehensive, automated solutions for testing Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) and Bluetooth Classic, including LE audio measurements. Additionally, the tester supports WLAN 11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax SISO and MIMO signaling tests, making it an all-in-one solution for integrated wireless communication testing.
