element14 Community Launches “Start a Movement” Design Challenge

element14, part of the Avnet Community, has introduced the “Start a Movement” Design Challenge, offering 20 engineers the chance to develop a project that incorporates a moving component. Participants will be provided with the Analog Devices TMC5272-EVAL kit, a QSH4218 NEMA 17 stepper motor, and a power supply unit (PSU) to create automation-driven movement within their designs.

The challenge encourages designers to explore creative ways to integrate motion into their projects. Suggested applications include, but are not limited to:

  • Movement control
  • Precise movement systems
  • Wearable technology
  • Personal portable devices
  • Optical systems and lens control
  • CCTV, surveillance, and conference systems (focus/zoom, pan/tilt control)
  • Medical devices like insulin pumps and pipettes
  • Small printing and scanning devices
  • Lab and office automation
  • Space-constrained stepper motor solutions
  • Energy-efficient movement control

“Movement is a key element in many modern technologies,” said Andreea Teodorescu, Global Director of Product Marketing at element14 Community. “Through this challenge, we hope to inspire our members to integrate more automated movement into their projects and spark the creation of groundbreaking innovations.”

Applications for the challenge are open until October 18, and selected participants will have until December 3 to complete their projects. To successfully participate, engineers must post five blogs or forum entries documenting their build process and one final article summarizing their project’s outcome. Submissions featuring photos, videos, and code samples will receive higher consideration.

The grand prize winner will be awarded a KELKART 27.5-inch Electric Bike, with runners-up receiving a Fafrees Electric Bike. Additional finishers will receive a MultiComp Pro Multimeter Set.
