Informa Markets in India to Host 17th Edition of Renewable Energy India Expo Alongside 2nd Edition of The Battery Show India in October 2024

Informa Markets in India, a leading organizer of B2B exhibitions, is set to present the highly anticipated 17th edition of the Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo from October 3rd to 5th, 2024, at the India Expo Centre in Greater Noida. Running concurrently with the 2nd edition of The Battery Show India, this event will serve as a comprehensive platform for the renewable energy and electric vehicle (EV) sectors to converge.

Mr. Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director of Informa Markets in India, highlighted the significance of these sectors, noting that India’s goal of 30% electric vehicle sales by 2030 places the EV industry at the forefront of the country’s mobility revolution, with over 4 million EVs already in use, particularly two- and three-wheelers. Simultaneously, India’s renewable energy sector has reached new milestones, with installed capacity hitting 200 GW as of August 2024. This growth is supported by initiatives like the PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, benefiting millions of households.

Speaking about the upcoming events, Mr. Mudras emphasized, “The REI Expo 2024 and The Battery Show India 2024 will showcase India’s leadership in renewable energy and electric mobility while fostering collaboration and innovation across industries. These platforms will bring together global stakeholders, startups, and policymakers to drive technological advancements and sustainable practices, reinforcing India’s role as a global leader in energy transformation.” He added that the synergy between the renewable energy and battery industries will play a pivotal role in shaping India’s journey toward a clean, electrified future, aligning with the country’s long-term sustainability goals.

Renewable Energy India (REI) 2024

Building on its successful legacy, the REI Expo has become Asia’s premier event in the renewable energy sector. The 2024 edition will feature over 700 exhibitors, with 85% domestic and 15% international participation, including delegations from Germany and the Middle East. More than 850 brands will be showcased, with over 50,000 trade visitors expected to attend. Key focus areas will include solar energy, wind energy, bioenergy, and energy storage. Major exhibitors include Reliance Industries, Adani Solar, Gautam Solar, EMMVEE, Vikram Solar, WAAREE, JSW Steel, and Envision.

Supported by prominent organizations such as the Indian Biogas Association (IBA), National Highway of Electric Vehicles (NHEV), Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), and others, the event will also feature the “Advantage Rajasthan” session, led by Shri Heera Lal Nagar, Honourable Minister of Energy for Rajasthan. Attendees can look forward to CEO/CTO Conclaves, a three-day technical conference, and an Investor Zone in collaboration with T-Hub (Govt. of Telangana). Over 40 sessions with more than 200 global speakers will provide insights into industry trends and innovations.

The Battery Show India 2024

Running parallel to the REI Expo, The Battery Show India 2024 will feature 300+ brands and attract over 20,000 visitors from sectors like vehicle manufacturing, battery pack assembly, OEMs, and EV charging solutions. The show will highlight products and services from top companies like Parker Lord, Saint Gobain, Thermo Fisher, Siemens, Asahi Kasei, Dow Chemicals, and Gujarat Fluorochemicals EV. Supported by organizations such as the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) and BloombergNEF, this edition will focus on innovations in battery technology.

Key features of the show include CEO/CTO Conclaves, the Global Innovation Theatre, and a three-day technical conference. Under the theme “Net Zero Strategies, Synergies, and Sustainable Growth,” the conference will cover topics such as India’s electric vehicle push, battery energy storage systems, and EU-India EV battery recycling technologies. The event will also explore building resilient green infrastructure for clean mobility, with a focus on NHEV E-Highways and sustainable energy storage solutions.

Industry Outlook

India’s renewable energy sector is advancing rapidly, driven by strong government policies and initiatives aimed at achieving 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030, primarily through solar and wind power. This transition emphasizes the need for efficient battery storage systems to maintain a reliable energy grid. The battery industry, closely tied to the growing EV market, is projected to surge from $34.8 billion in 2024 to $120 billion by 2030. Key initiatives like the PM Surya Ghar scheme, which has seen a 300% increase in residential solar installations, and the FAME scheme for electric vehicles, are propelling this growth.

Private investments and startup activity in battery manufacturing, energy storage, and EV technologies are expected to contribute more than $10 billion over the next three years, positioning India as a global leader in renewable energy and battery technology. These developments are vital for the nation’s shift towards a sustainable and clean energy future.
