Sollum Technologies Celebrates 10 Years with Innovative LED Lighting Solutions
Introducing the SF-E2 Fixture and Enhanced SUNaaS Platform for Advanced Greenhouse and Research Lighting Management
As Sollum Technologies approaches its 10th anniversary in January 2025, the company is unveiling new advancements in dynamic LED lighting management. Specializing in lighting solutions for controlled environments such as greenhouses, research facilities, and laboratories, Sollum Technologies is enhancing its offerings with cutting-edge products and services.
The company’s latest innovation is a fully dynamic LED lighting system, managed through a cloud-based platform known as SUN as a Service® (SUNaaS). According to Sollum, this user-friendly platform accurately replicates the natural sunlight cycle, setting the standard for agricultural lighting.
“Guided by natural processes, our technology has been effectively utilized in the cultivation of over 85 crop varieties across 100 acres of greenhouses in North America and Europe,” states Louis Brun, co-founder and CEO of Sollum Technologies. “For nearly a decade, we have refined our expertise by studying how light modulation influences crop productivity, plant traits, energy usage, and pest management. Our close collaboration with customers has informed the evolution of our products and services, providing greater flexibility and control for growers.”
Introducing the SF-E2™: An Energy-Efficient Fixture
The new SF-E2 fixture is designed to offer exceptional energy efficiency and support plant growth, catering to energy-conscious growers. Louis notes that the SF-E2 is ideal for those transitioning from High-Pressure Sodium (HPS) technology to more accessible LED solutions.
Versatile Wattages for Every Need
To accommodate various greenhouse sizes and configurations, Sollum’s fixtures are now available in three wattages: 400, 800, and 1040 watts. The range includes the SF-ONE™ and SF-PRO™ models. The SF-ONE provides a flexible spectrum that enhances crop productivity for a wide range of plants, while the SF-PRO offers advanced light modulation to optimize growth, cost, quality, and sustainability.
Enhanced Flexibility with the SUNaaS Platform
All SF fixtures are powered by the SUNaaS platform, which incorporates artificial intelligence (AI). Key features include automatic real-time dimming based on ambient light changes and the ability to create and adjust distinct growth zones. François-Roy Moisan, co-founder and CTO of Sollum, highlights the platform’s adaptability: “In keeping with the dynamic nature of our lighting solutions, SUNaaS now offers a core package with every fixture purchase and an optional advanced package. This allows customers to select features tailored to their specific needs, ensuring a highly personalized experience.”
Ongoing Development of the SUNaaS Platform
Sollum is committed to continually improving its cloud-based platform by integrating it with top climate control systems (like Damatex) and plant visualization tools (such as Leaficient). These integrations aim to simplify plant growth management and enhance lighting efficiency.
