Vishay Intertechnology Expands Gen 7 Platform with New 1200 V FRED Pt Hyperfast Rectifiers for Automotive and Industrial Applications

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has broadened its Gen 7 lineup of 1200 V FRED Pt Hyperfast rectifiers by introducing four new Automotive Grade models in the compact eSMP series SMF (DO-219AB) package. Designed to meet the needs of both industrial and automotive sectors, these new 1 A and 2 A rectifiers deliver an optimal balance between reverse recovery charge (Qrr) and forward voltage drop, while also providing industry-leading junction capacitance and fast recovery times.

The newly launched rectifiers include the VS-E7FX0112-M3 and VS-E7FX0212-M3, along with the AEC-Q101 qualified VS-E7FX0112HM3 and VS-E7FX0212HM3 models. These devices feature rapid recovery times as short as 45 nanoseconds, a Qrr value of approximately 105 nC, and a forward voltage drop down to 1.45 V, coupled with a minimal junction capacitance of 3.0 pF. The rectifiers are built for robustness, with a non-repetitive peak surge current capability of up to 21 A. Their compact size measures 4.2 mm by 1.4 mm with a low 1.08 mm profile and a minimum creepage distance of 2.2 mm, making them ideal for space-constrained applications.

These high-performance rectifiers are suitable for roles as clamp, snubber, and freewheeling diodes in flyback auxiliary power supplies, as well as high-frequency rectifiers for bootstrap driver circuits. Additionally, they provide desaturation protection for the latest fast-switching IGBTs and high-voltage silicon and silicon carbide (Si / SiC) MOSFETs. Common applications for these models include industrial drive systems, on-board chargers and motors in electric vehicles (EVs), renewable energy systems, Ćuk converters, and SEPIC circuits for industrial LED lighting.

Built with a planar structure and platinum-doped lifetime control, these rectifiers ensure high reliability and durability while minimizing power dissipation. Their design prioritizes low stored charge and low recovery current, reducing switching losses and enhancing overall energy efficiency. These devices are RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, rated for high-temperature operation up to +175 °C, and have a Moisture Sensitivity Level of 1 in line with J-STD-020.
